Joseph Galtieri's Obituary
Joseph Galtieri, 99, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2019. He was born in Delianuova, Calabria, Italy the son of the late Dominic and Florence (Zucco) Galtieri. After emigrating to the U.S., he served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and later retired as a machinist from Carrier Corporation after 37 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, Joe enjoyed teaching ballroom and square dancing. He also cherished his time spent with family and friends at the camp he built on Cross Lake.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wives, Genevieve (DiFeo) and Freda (Pettengill); a granddaughter, Jenni-Lyn Watson; sisters, Marie and Nancy and a brother, Fred.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Judy (Nick) Campitello and Jacqueline (David) Watson; grandchildren, Robert (Pakin) and Mark (Lori) Campitello and Lauren Watson; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Louie, Pat, and Jim; a sister, Anna Carocci; a longtime companion, Alta Chiappone; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, November 25, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
