Joseph Mancini's Obituary
Joseph Mancini, 93, of Syracuse passed away Saturday at James Square with his loving family by his side. A life resident of Syracuse, he was employed by General Motors for 42 years before retiring and was a member of the UAW Local 624. Joe was a member of the IAAC, Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei and was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. An exceptionally devoted husband, he held his family very close to his heart, he provided those closest to him with an inner strength and a sense of well being. Everyone who met Joe long remembered his quick wit, outgoing personality and his love for life. He was predeceased by his brother, Armanti (Babe) Mancini. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Carmella (Farnett) Mancini; son, Joseph Mancini of Syracuse; two daughters, Elise LaValle (John) of Syracuse, Andrea (Joe) Liberati of Syracuse; five grandchildren, Michael LaValle, Laurie Dawley (Paul), Lisa, Lauren and Joseph Liberati; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Angelo (Grace) Mancini of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home followed by a noon Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in Our Lady of Pompei-St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompei -St. Peter Church Building Fund.
