Joseph S. Mento's Obituary
Joseph Steven Mento, 85, passed away on January 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 25, 1935 to Frank and Mary Mento of Syracuse, NY. Joseph was a man of faith and integrity. He had a passion for his work and most importantly a deep love for all his family and friends. He always had a smile and enjoyed life with so many friends whom he loved to share coffee and stories with. He also loved big trucks and heavy equipment and was the proprietor of Losurdo and Mento Construction for over 50 years. His green and yellow trucks were a legacy symbol of his accomplished, working life. An Army veteran he was often reminiscent of his time spent serving our country.
Joseph will be deeply missed, never forgotten and always in our hearts.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his two brothers, Frank and Steven Mento, and his nephew, Nick Mento.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Carmella Lee (Ianno) Mento and children; Frank (Patty) Marykay (Tony) and Anthony (Karla), all of which were his sources of strength and purpose. Above all, he loved special times with all his grandchildren, Alexis, Michael, Taylor, Cole, Jon, Justin, and Jordan. He is also survived by his brother, John (Genevieve), along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
