Joseph Arthur Piccoli

Joseph Arthur Piccoli, 87, of Liverpool, passed away at his home at Park Rose Estates on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Utica, NY, the son of the late Arthur and Jane (Milazzo) Piccoli. Joe attended Mt. Carmel School, T.R. Proctor High School, and graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with a degree in accounting and finance. He began his career at Griffis Air Base, Rome, NY and later attained a position at the Utica facility of the General Electric Company. Subsequently, he joined the Defense Logistics Agency of the US Department of Defense as a contract administrator. He served in that capacity until his retirement. Joe had a dry wit and liked to play cards with members of a local card club. He had a keen interest in air and space subjects and loved to visit the Museum of Air and Space in Washington. A loyal fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, he attended many games in New York prior to the team’s move to Los Angeles. Joe was a genial host and enjoyed entertaining family and friends in his home. His grandchildren were his joy, and they spent many happy times with “Pa”. Joe will be greatly missed by those who loved him. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter, Ruth Ann (Piccoli) Pfeffer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carmel Ann (Rizzo) Piccoli; his son, Joseph (Mary Ellen) Piccoli, Jr. of Olympia, WA; his son-in-law, David Pfeffer; his grandchildren, David Pfeffer, Jr., Melinda Pfeffer, and Teresa Piccoli; his sister, Phyllis La Porte; his nephew, Christopher (Monique) La Porte, of Concorde, NH; along with several cousins in Utica. Carmel Ann would like to express her sincere thanks to her son-in-law, David, who served as Joe’s primary caregiver and to Hospice of CNY and The Finger Lakes for their compassionate assistance and care of her husband. Visitation will be held from 4:30 – 5:30 P.M. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 in Pope John XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Rd., Liverpool, NY. He will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Baldwinsville at a later date.
