Joseph Sacco's Obituary
Joseph Sacco, 88, a life resident of Syracuse passed away peacefully Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/ St. Peter Church. He served in the US Airforce during World War II in the 344 Bomber Group of the 496th Squadron. Joe was a sheet metal worker who formerly worked with the Joseph Cashier Co. and then became a co-owner of Sacco Sheet Metal and also C & C Distributor.
An unconditional caregiver and provider for his wife, children and grandchildren, Joe was very generous to family and friends. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together. He was an avid bowler where he bowled for Cerio's Gas Station in the Petroleum League for many years. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his children with Troop 81 where he was a member of the "Beavers". He often made improvements to Woodland Campgrounds.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Mary J. (Cammuso) Sacco , his son Michael J. Sacco, and his sister Catherine Sposato.
He is survived by his children Patrick S. Sacco, of Liverpool, Elaine M. Sacco, of Rochester, William E. Sacco, of Amherst, N.Y., his Daughter-in law Kristine Sacco, of E. Syracuse, his Grandchildren Michael J. Sacco II, Joseph M. Sacco II and Nicole M. Sacco, 2 sisters Mary DiBello and Anna Grenga both of Syracuse , several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM Wednesday in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Road), North Syracuse, NY, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. Contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or ones favorite charity.
