Joseph J. Scaravillo's Obituary
Joseph J. Scaravillo, 89, of Camillus, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Camillus on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was born in Syracuse and was a proud graduate of North High School, Siena College and University of Buffalo. Joseph was the Director of the North Side CYO and Bishop Foery Day Camp before becoming a school social worker in the Syracuse City School District. After retirement, Joseph went to work in the Marcellus School District as a school counselor retiring again at 78.
He was predeceased by his wife, Hilda (Yennock) Scaravillo and his sister, Dominica Bandera.
Joseph is survived by his two children, Maria T. Scaravillo and Samuel J. (Eileen) Scaravillo; five grandchildren, Gina, Andrea and Maria Murray, Amalia and Joseph Scaravillo; his brother, Vincent (Joyce) Scaravillo, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Joseph’s life will be offered by his brother-in-law, Rev. Msgr. Eugene Yennock on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
