Joseph "Giuseppe" Scordo's Obituary
Joseph “Giuseppe” Scordo, 86, of Liverpool, passed away July 15, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Riposto Sicily, Italy, son of the late Carmelo and Carmela Scordo and immigrated to the U.S. in 1956. Giuseppe started his career as a baker both in Italy and the Syracuse area for many years. He retired from General Motors in 1993. Joe was a master carpenter and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by his siblings, Nina Gervasio and Nella Scordo.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carmela (Pagano) Scordo; 3 children, Maria (Fred) Scheuer, Joseph C. (Valerie) Scordo and Tina C. Wojtanowski; 7 grandchildren, Teresa Deegan, Michael Wojtanowski, Jayson Scheuer, Andrew Wojtanowski, Breanna Osmun, Joseph R. Scheuer and Joseph A. Scordo; 2 great-grandchildren, Antonio Scheuer and Mia Osmun; two brothers, Filippo and Giovanni Scordo, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Giuseppe’s life at 9:30 am in Epiphany Parish at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Liverpool. He will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
