Joseph H. Sgroi, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph H. Sgroi, Sr., 74, of Syracuse, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018. He was born in Phoenix, NY, son of the late Joseph L. and Vera (Delano) Sgroi. Joseph worked as the Head Forman at Hoffman Air & Filtration. He loved woodworking and carpentry, you could always find him in his garage putting his skills to work. Joseph also loved watching old western movies and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jo-Ann E. (Palmisano) Sgroi in 2013; his son, John F. Sgroi and two siblings.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Sgroi, Jr. of Mattydale, NY; daughters, Kimmie Sgroi of Chittenango, NY, Terry Sgroi (Kim) of Syracuse, NY, Rachel Forgensi (David) of Syracuse, Shelly Huff (Bruce) of Ben Wheeler, TX and Robin Cooley of Texas; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with a funeral service by Rev. John Ahern immediately following. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
