Joseph A. Sisto's Obituary
Today, heaven has gained another angel. Our brother and uncle, Joseph A. Sisto, 75, affectionately known as “Joey” has found his way back home to his parents and grandparents in heaven. He was born in Syracuse to the late Joseph and Nancy (Militi) Sisto. He worked at Upstate Hospital for many years and loved playing baseball with his brother, Dan, going bowling and eating out at various restaurants. Joey was a special man and it’s truly difficult to describe someone who always gave unconditional love. He had a wonderful relationship with his nieces and nephews; they loved having an uncle who never grew old, and they described his smile as made of sunshine, his eyes as bright as shining stars, and his cheeks like fair roses. They’ll also miss the countless $5.00 bills he gave out. He was an amazing uncle and always will be, but take heed, he’s keeping an eye on everyone, so make sure he likes what he sees.
Joey is survived by his sister, Beatrice (Paul) Maher-Colin; his brother, Daniel (Connie) Sisto; his uncle, John (Linda) Militi; his nieces and nephews, Nancy Maher, Brian Maher, Christopher (Liz) Maher, Jason Sisto, Adam (Olga) Sisto. Stephanie Sisto (Ryan Kimmel), and Daniel (Katie) Sisto, II; his great-nieces and nephews, Jackson, Casey, Fiona, Olivia, Maximus, Michael, Jacob, Alexander, Nicholas, Tyler, Daniel III, Isabella, Eliana, and Madison; and his cousins, Kathy, Tina, Daniel, Peter, Jonathan, and Rita.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the people at his home on Westmore who made his life so great. They will always be remembered for what a great home they provided for Joey.
A brief visitation will take place from 10:00 – 10:45 A.M. on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Epiphany Parish (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church), 1001 Tulip St. Liverpool. A funeral mass in celebration of Joey’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
Contributions in Joey’s memory may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, 265 Rosewood Cir. Canastota, NY 13032.
