Joseph C. Sochia's Obituary
Joseph C. Sochia, 93, passed away peacefully at the Francis House on Sunday, June 2, 2024. He was born in Syracuse and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Joe was a photographer and news manager with WSYR for many years, before retiring from Onondaga County Facilities Management Department. Joe enjoyed fixing and building things, listening to music, watching television, gardening, snow birding to Naples, Florida and spending time with his family.
Joe was predeceased by his mother, Gladys (Williamson) Sochia, and his 5 siblings, Virginia Dunham, George and Ralph Sochia, Barbara Jean Stillwell, Donald Fisher and his dog, Georgie Girl.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Frances (Ingallinera) Sochia; his 5 children, Michael, Mark and Steven Sochia, Joanna (Jeremy) Markman and Laureen (Craig) Norris; his 5 grandchildren, Emilee, Jilliann, Mia, Tai, and Abbee; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joe’s family would like to thank Upstate University Hospital-Neuro ICU-9E & Surg 7A, and Francis House for their loving, kind and compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
