Joseph A. Speach's Obituary
Joseph A. (Joe) Speach, Sr., 91, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Andy and Louise (Sposato) Speach. He served in the US Army from 1945 to 1946. Joe met his wife, Genevieve (Gen), at Blodgett Vocational High School, where they both graduated in 1939. They would have celebrated their 70th Anniversary on September 20, 2011. In 1984, he retired from Syracuse China after 34 years. Joe was a wonderful musician who played in the Variety Boys Band as a guitarist for 35 years and taught guitar. He and his wife were accomplished ballroom and line dancers, and for 30 years they were members of the Lace Ballroom Dance Club and Pairs and Squares Dance Club. Joe was a man of deep faith and a communicant of Christ the King Church. First and foremost he cherished his family. Surviving Joe are his loving wife, Genevieve (Smith) Speach; his son, Joseph A. (Paula) Speach, Jr. of Franklin, TN; his daughter, Louise Menickelli of Liverpool; his brother, Francis Speach of Fort Lee, NJ; his grandchildren Lisa Speach and Eric Speach of Franklin, TN, Todd (Kristen) Menickelli of Baldwinsville, Deanna (David) Boudov of Baldwinsville and his great-grandchildren, Alida, Anthony, Gibson, Michael and Bailey. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 9:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse and 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, NY 13090.
