Joseph D. Tripodi's Obituary
Joseph D. Tripodi, 95, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Crouse Hospital. Joe was born in Syracuse, son of the late Alfonso and Giovanna (Chirico) Tripodi. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran. Joe worked as a meat cutter for 25 years. At age 48, he started working in construction for Laborers Local 633 in Syracuse. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball. Joe loved spending time with his family and was very dedicated to his wife Rose, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Rose A. (DiMento) Tripodi; his siblings, Rose Creno, Antoinette Tripodi, Kathryn Nappi and Carmen V. Tripodi.
Joe is survived by three children, Annette (Tony Martin) Lutz of Syracuse, Alfonse (Anna) Tripodi of Syracuse and Sandra (Hank) DeShane of Liverpool; three grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Lutz, Kristine (Darryl) Sheaks and Daniel Tripodi; two great-grandchildren, Maci Rosan Lutz and Dominique Fernandes; sister-in-law, Susan Tripodi, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His family would like to thank Dr. Tripodi, Cynthia, Lizzy, Coco and Crouse Hospital 4th Floor, for their special care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, February 21, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration Joseph’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church. Entombment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
