Joseph A. Vivenzio, Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph A. Vivenzio, Sr., 80, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 5, 2016. He was born in Auburn, NY, son of the late Peter and Mary Vivenzio. Joe served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from New Process Gear as a Dock Auditor and was a member of the UAW Local 624. After retirement, Joe worked part-time for News America Marketing. He was also a member of the American Legion North Syracuse Post 1297. Joe loved his trips to various casinos and playing his “scratch off tickets”. He also enjoyed fishing and extensive traveling and had a special love for dancing.
He was predeceased by his two former wives, Katherine Tabone and Rosella Cacchione and two sisters, Ida (Bob) Rooker and Theresa Ashmore.
Joe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jonell (Sofia) Vivenzio; four children, Michelle A. Vivenzio of Auburn, Mary Jo Vivenzio, Joseph A. Vivenzio, Jr. and Anthony J. Vivenzio, all of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Anthony, Nicholas, Katie and Amanda; his brother, Augustino "Gus" Vivenzio of Auburn; two sisters, Mary Anne (Bill) Martin and Marlene (Bill) Jacobs, both of Auburn; brother-in-law, Joseph Sofia; his special family, Susan McRae, Brian Dolbear, Suzy McRae and Sammy McRae, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
