Josephine (Oliva) Celio's Obituary
Josephine (Oliva) Celio, 95, of North Syracuse, passed away on September 8, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Syracuse to the late Anthony and Grace (Fresina) Oliva. Josephine graduated from North High School and then went to work at the New York Telephone Company where she became one of the youngest supervisors in the company. She next worked at General Electric Company for several years. Josephine rounded out her years of work at St. Joseph Hospital Health Center where she was also a member of the Auxiliary and a volunteer for 30 years. She was awarded the Hannah Fuller-Pease Auxiliary Service Award in 2019.
Besides her parents, Josephine was also predeceased by her husband, John L. Celio and her sisters, Carm Russell and Shirley Sunser.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Murphy of Liverpool; her beloved granddaughters, Dr. Lauren (Timothy) Brown of Lynchburg, Virginia and Leah (Ryan) Scarafile of Churchville, Maryland; her precious great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Eliana Scarafile and Madison and Hadley Brown; her sister, MaryJane Monticello, along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m -11:00 a.m, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Josephine's life at 11:00 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Entombment will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
