Josephine (Ukrainec) Charuk's Obituary
Josephine (Ukrainec) Charuk, 96, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Karolina Ukrainec and worked for many years as an assembly worker at Carrier Corporation. An avid cook and baker, nothing brought her more joy than preparing a meal for her family and friends. She was the keeper of the traditional Polish recipes and no one could top her famous pierogies and golumpki. Josephine also enjoyed card games and loved a competitive game of gin rummy.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, William in 1987 as well as her siblings, Stanley Ukrainec, John Ukrainec, Olympia Usher, and Mary Tanury.
Josephine is survived by her cherished daughter, Diane Charuk, along with several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held from 10 – 11 am on Friday, July 10, 2020 immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Josephine’s life at 11 am at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josephine’s name may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
