Josephine (Pulvere) English's Obituary
Josephine (Pulvere) English, 98, long time Syracuse resident, passed away in the early morning of January 8. Josephine was born in Syracuse, New York to Italian immigrants, Donato and Riparata Pulvere. She was raised, along with her 4 siblings in Syracuse, New York. Josephine retired as a seamstress from Learbury Clothing in 1964 and became a part-time employee of W.T Grant Co. A devoted wife to her husband Louis English who preceded her in death in 1994. She was an outstanding cook and loved to entertain family and friends. At the suggestion of her nephew and niece, Richard and Marie LaFrate, Jo and Louie relocated to Leesburg, Florida in 1993. She and Louie enjoyed their new home, the Florida climate, as well as the social opportunity that their community provided. Seeing her driving her golf cart to the local shopping mall so that she could walk her daily lap or two was a common occurrence. In her new home, Josephine continued to cook and entertain her friends, continuing with her weekly ladies card parties well into her 90’s.
She is survived by her caregivers Richard and Marie LaFrate, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
