Josephine B. "Jo" Gillette's Obituary
Josephine “Jo” (Grillo) Gillette, 98, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2021. She was born in Syracuse, NY on November 27, 1922, to the late Frank and Catherine (Piraino) Grillo. Jo was retired from the Syracuse City School District as a secretary. She was a member of the St. Therese Society of Our Lady of Pompei Church, and the Daughters of Columbus.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Baptist R. Gillette, two brothers, Christopher Grillo II and Anthony Grillo; daughter; Maryanne Wright; nephew; Paul Grillo; and niece, Diane Fusco.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Donald) Park, Patricia (John) Johnston, and Karen (John) Schemm; son-in-law, Ronald Wright; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Beth) Johnston, William Park, Matthew Wright, Jeremy (Tara) Johnston, James Park, Kevin Wright, Anna and Kara Schemm; great-grandchildren, Curtis Wright, Alexander Wright, Riley Joseph Johnston, and Olivia Marianne Johnston; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church 301 Ash St. Syracuse, NY 13208. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Dewitt, NY. Family and friends may call on Monday, March 29, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
