Josephine Pagano's Obituary
Josephine (Finocchio) Pagano, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was affectionately known as "Nona" to all who knew her. Josephine loved her family, adored her grandchildren and was most proud of her garden. Josephine lived to cook and feed all who came through her door; her favorite phrase was "mangia". Josephine came to this country from Sicily with her family in 1958, she was able to return four years ago to visit. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Onofrio, who passed away in 1988. Josephine is survived by her children; Carmella (Joseph) Scordo of Las Vegas, Joseph (Dusty) Pagano of Syracuse and Nancy (Ricky) Cobbs of Cicero; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Josephine also leaves behind Rocco, who was her beloved cat for the last 2 years. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:00 am in Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei-St. Peter Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Assumption Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Contributions may be made in Josephine's memory to St. Joseph's Hospital, Unit 2-5 or James Square, B South.
