Josephine R. Stagnitta's Obituary
Josephine R. (Sofia) Stagnitta, 94, of Syracuse, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday at the Francis House surrounded by her loving family. She was previously employed with W. T. Grants and E. W. Edwards. Josephine was a life member of Blessed Sacrament Church, active in the St. Therese Society, St. Peter’s “Young at Heart” and the Pompeian Seniors. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Stagnitta in 1989. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Anna Marie (Gordon) Slade of Syracuse and Mary Jane (Larry) Nesci of Liverpool; 5 grandchildren, Michele (Stephen) Nicolaos of Liverpool, David Slade of Syracuse, Lauren (Joseph) Vassallo of Liverpool, Marc Slade of Illinois and Lawrence (Trudy) Nesci of Syracuse; 7 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Brooke, Mia, Joseph, Victoria and Larry II; a sister, Isabelle Pagano of Johnstown, NY, brothers-in law, Sam Gatto, Vincent (Theresa) Stagnitta, Anthony (Betty) Stagnitta, sister-in law, Ann Basile, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be no calling hours.
