Judith M. "Judy" (Gourley) Brandt's Obituary
Judith M. “Judy” (Gourley) Brandt, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at home. Judy was born and raised in Detroit, MI, where she later met her husband when he attended college there. She was employed as an RN for 45 years, retiring in 2014 from Summerwood Pediatrics. She was also very active in the community, serving on the Phoenix Town Board and working at the Phoenix Public Library. Judy loved watching sports, especially SU basketball. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and was an artist. She was an award-winning pie maker, and she hosted magical Christmas parties for her family and friends.
Judy is predeceased by her parents, John and Ruth (Wolfe) Gourley; and her brother, James Gourley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, John W. “Jack” Brandt; her three children, Karen (Scott) Brown, Kelly (Jason) Shutter, and KC (Alexander Stick); three grandchildren, Everly, Lincoln, and Adeline; as well as her brother, Paul (Barb) Gourley; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Route 31, Baldwinsville. She will be laid to rest privately at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Pompey. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to the Phoenix Public Library 34 Elm St. Phoenix, NY 13135.
