Karen J. (Love) Pirro's Obituary
Karen J. Pirro, 84, passed away on Sunday August 25, 2024, at Francis House surrounded by her loving family. Karen was born in 1940 in Herkimer, NY to the late Ivan and Ellen (Sorenson) Love. She graduated from St. Anthony High School in Syracuse, NY in 1958. Karen was a seamstress for many years and graduated from Contemporary Beauty School in the late 1960’s. Thereafter, she became a small claims adjuster for Royal Insurance Co. Karen enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and above all, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom were the loves of her life.
Besides her parents, Karen was also predeceased by her former husband, Joseph T. Pirro III.
She is survived by her 3 children, Katherine (Fred) Vaeth, Joseph T. (Lynne) Pirro IV, Michael J. (Martha) Pirro; her beloved companion and caretaker, Richard Johnson; her 8 grandchildren, Michael (Kate) Flynn, Laura Fox, Anthony Pirro, Matthew (Meredith) Pirro, Dominick (Julia) Pirro, Victoria Pirro, Alexandria Pirro, and Joseph Pirro; her 4 great-grandchildren, Jillian Fox, Molly Fox, Abigail Fox, and Henry Flynn; sisters, Claire Keough, and Nancy Romano; along with several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Karen’s life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter’s Church, 301 Ash Street, Syracuse. Entombment will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be no calling hours.
A special and heartfelt thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Francis House. The kindness and care extended to our mother in her final days will never be forgotten.
