Karen H. Morris' Obituary
Karen H. Morris, 76, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully October 4, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by her immediate family.
Karen spent her life helping others. She was a very active member of the woman’s sorority, Beta Sigma Phi since 1974. As of November 2020 she will have been in sorority for 46 years and has worked her way up to the degree of torchbearer. She was most influential as a member of the General Federation of Women’s clubs (GFWC) for over 30 years. Within GFWC she served as NY state president from 2002-2004, she was a member of GFWC Judy’s Gems 2004-present, GFWC past President’s Club 2004-present, GFWC Middle Atlantic Region, Syracuse Federation Formers. Karen was state convention chairman for Elaine Ko 2000-2002, and for Candace Edwards 2018-2020. She held numerous committee memberships at club, state and international levels.
Her heart positively touched everyone she came in contact with.
Karen had a very generous spirit and spent many hours contributing to the organizations to which she belonged too and to her friends and family. She helped to guide and support the lives of all around her. Karen’s caring sensitive heart truly showed with her tremendous love of her immediate and extended family.
She enjoyed crafts of many kinds, the outdoors and learning about the wonders of nature and our Earth. She felt that there is always room in life to keep learning.
She is survived by her husband David, daughter Lisa, daughter in law Heather, granddaughter Kaitlyn Lussier, grandsons Derrick Sanford, Willie Wells and great-grandchild Natalia Wells as well as many “extended” family members.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 from 10 am – 12:30 pm, followed by a funeral service in celebration of Karen’s life at 1:00 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
