Kathleen A. (Scanlan) Betar's Obituary
Kathleen A. (Scanlan) Betar, 57, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse and graduated as Valedictorian with the class of 1979 at Assumption Academy. Kathy furthered her education and received her degree from Powelson Business Institute. She later went on to work at National Grid for over 35 dedicated years. Kathy enjoyed eating and spared no expense when it came to food. She looked forward to her many family vacations and loved spending time with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, Robert Scanlan. Kathy is survived by her husband of 32 years, John Betar; her daughter, Courtney Betar; her son, Jonathan Betar; her mother, Linda (Bergett) Scanlan; two sisters, Mary (Tim) Ireland and Chris (Bill) Stone; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 11 am – 2 pm, followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Kathy’s life at 2 pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Private burial will be held in Assumption Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association, PO BOX 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005.
