Kathleen (McCarthy) Caliva, 85, wife of the late Francis S. Caliva, MD, passed away peacefully at home with her family around her on Wednesday, February 6. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and the daughter of Hugh P. McCart Read Obituary

Your Mom and Dad welcomed me into their home in 1965, when I returned from the Army to St Jospeh's Family Practice Residency, which your Dad founded. Your Dad dies much to young. I have enjoyed seeing your Mom since then off and on. Please accept my sympathy and my good wishes.

Dear Liz, Frank, Peter and Tony,
We are sorry to learn of your Mother's passing. My sincere apologies for not being able to attend your Mom's funeral mass or the calling hours. I have only wonderful memories of your mother and of growing up on Haddonfield Drive with all of you. "Mrs. Caliva" was indeed an exceptionally kind and helpful neighbor. I truly wish I could have honored her by being present yesterday.
Hopefully, I may drop off a meal at the old homestead this week.
Tony, I would like to send you my best at this time. Cathy Barry Fedrizzi relayed to me this afternoon that she saw all of you yesterday. She has taught my two older daughters, Nancy and Susan, and is now Elizabeth's third grade teacher. Jimmy Snyder ushers at IC Church; we see him often with his family.

Dear Liz and family - Even though I was just a young girl when you and your family lived next door to us on Feigel Ave. I still have wonderful childhood memories of your Mom, Dad, you and your sister and brothers. It was so nice when I saw you at the restaurant with your mom. It was such a great surprise. Your mom was such a sweet lady and I enjoyed seeing her at mass at Blessed Sacrement from time to time. We are all very sad to learn of your mom's passing. I was the youngest of five during the Feigel Ave years- so my memories are not as robust.... but your mom was our mother's great friend and perhaps soul mate- in the era of raising large families- with all of the joy (and work) that comes with that. In later years, when 'Mrs. Caliva' would come visit- my mom's eyes would light up, and they would be immersed in such great conversation about the past, their families, and their hopes for the future. We should all be so blessed to have a friend like that...
