Kathryn (Tripodi) Nappi's Obituary
"The Great" Kate Nappi, of Syracuse lived to a beautiful age. She passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital after being cared for by her daughter, Patty, son-in-law, Tom and her grandson, Tom Jr. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Alfonso and Giovanna (Chirico) Tripodi. Kate was the owner and operator of Casa Di Nappi Restaurant in Syracuse. She was also a seamstress at Learbury Clothing for many years and worked for New Process Gear. She was a member of the North Side Businessmen's Association and the Tavern Keepers Association. Kate made airplane parts for planes during WWII. She was a member of the St. Theresa Society and Mother's Club. Kate was a drum majorette for John Vendetti Post 1. She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick Nappi in 1968, her parents, Alfonso and Giovanna (Chirico) Tripodi, brother, Carmen Tripodi, sister, Antoinette Tripodi, sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Michael Creno and nephew, Joseph Creno. Kate is survived by her children, Patricia A. Nappi (Tom Dery), JoAnne (Robert) Antonacci and Patrick (Ada) Nappi Jr.; 7 grandchildren, Thomas Patrick Dery Jr., Patrick Nappi, Alissa (Aaron) Strusienski, Alexander Nappi, Robert (Michele) Antonacci II, Michael (Mary) Antonacci and Kathryn Antonacci; 3 great-grandchildren, Bobby III, Jordan and Jackie; a brother, Joseph (Rose) Tripodi, 3 sisters-in-law, Christina Nappi, Rita Nappi and Sue Tripodi, brother-in-law, Samuel (Marylin) Nappi; nieces and nephews, Antoinette Creno Pallotta, Pamela (Steve) Netti, Samuel (Carol) Nappi, John Nappi, Ralph (Maureen) Nappi, Nicholas Nappi, Rita Nappi, Annette Lutz, Sandra DeShane, Joseph Tripodi and Brian Morey; 6 great-nieces, Kathy, Jenny, Kristine, Tiana, Leah and Kristin; 6 great-nephews, Frankie, Robert, Justin, Steven, Ralph Jr. and Patrick; cousin, Angela Briguglia along with several godchildren and relatives in Italy and Canada. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 11:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment for both Kathryn and her late husband, Patrick along with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Kate's family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Russell Silverman, Dr. Louis Bonavita, Dr. Thomas Aiello, her Respiratory Therapist, to all the nurses at the MICU who took care of her and the nurses at the AKU unit and also to Jody, Mary, Denise, Kathy, Jackie, Matt and Tim at St. Joseph's Home Care.
