Klara M. (Maag) Kasch's Obituary
Klara M. (Maag) Kasch, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Klara was born October 5, 1937 in Herdorf, Germany to Alfonse and Maria Maag. Klara was a beloved Liverpool Central School District Bus Driver for 20 years. Once retired, she worked several years as a Crossing Guard in the Liverpool School District. She will be remembered by many as a devoted driver and caring crossing guard.
Klara was an incredibly strong woman who excelled at raising her children as a widow. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and spent hours upon hours watching them play soccer, basketball, baseball, softball and dance. Her legacy of caring, devotion, compassion, grit, determination, love, and sense of family will be carried on by her children and grandchildren.
Klara was a true profile in courage growing up and surviving in Germany during WWII, immigrating to the U.S. in 1957, providing for her family after her husband passed away in 1983, beating breast cancer in 1994, a liver transplant in 2003 and fighting the long fight against cancer in recent years.
She is predeceased by her parents, brother, sister and her husband, John F. Kasch.
Klara is survived by her children, John A., Ann Marie Grandy (Marlo), and Michael, Sr. (Liz); her grandchildren, Alecia, Meghan, Michael, Jr., Audra, Matthew and Nicolette, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Klara’s life will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:00 am in Pope John XXIII Church, Soule Rd., Liverpool. A private burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Klara’s name to the American Cancer Society.
