Lawrence R. "Larry" Sunser, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Army during WWII and served in all major invasions between 1942Lawrence R. He was born in Syracuse and served with the U.S. Army during WWII and served in all major invasions between 1942 - 1945. Larry was employed with Niagara Mohawk for 41 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the IBEW and Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Caruso) Sunser in 2006. Larry is survived by 2 sons; Lawrence J. (Julie) Sunser of Camillus and John R. Sunser of Syracuse; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Murphy (Jason Baart) and Kimberly Murphy; a sister, Frances (Anthony) Chillemi of Liverpool; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 9:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual on Wednesday at 3:30 PM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home. Contributions in Larry's memory may be made to Boys Town, PO Box 145-Memorials, Boys Town, NE 68010. - 1945.
