Leatrice (Vetere) Martorelli's Obituary
Leatrice (Vetere) Martorelli, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2020 at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Leatrice was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Salvatore and Alice (Mancuso) Vetere. She worked many years for the Syracuse City School District and loved spending time with family and friends. Leatrice was a longtime member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family throughout the US.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Frank and her sister, Helen Serrao.
Leatrice is survived by her daughters, Ellen Martorelli, Cathy (Jim) Johnson and Liz (Joe) Stethers; sons, Jim (Layne) Martorelli, Ernest Martorelli and Frank Martorelli; four grandchildren, Luke, Brianne, Sarah and Michael; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Sonny (Barbara) Vetere; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 10 am – 12 pm immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Road) North Syracuse. Those wishing to attend the funeral service remotely may do so by using the link on Leatrice’s tribute page at tjpfuneralhome.com at 12 pm on Thursday. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
