Lena G. Lobello's Obituary
Lena G. Lobello, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her loving nieces. Lena was born in Syracuse to Sarah
(Congel) Lobello and Nicholas Lobello, she lived in Syracuse all of her life. She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, where she worked for over 38 years. After retirement, she was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital for 27 years. Baking for all family events and traveling were her favorite pastimes. She was predeceased by her parents, Sarah and Nick Lobello; sister, Jennie Reale; brother, Peter Lobello; brother-in-law, John Reale; sister-in-law, Susan Lobello and niece, Linda Lobello Bray. Lena is survived by her brothers, Joseph A. Lobello and John A. (Gloria) Lobello; sister-in-law, Violet Lobello; 13 nieces and nephews; 35 great-nieces and nephews; 33 great-great nieces and nephews; aunts, Esther Congel and Mary Congel and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY and 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of CNY, 731 James St., #200, Syracuse, NY 13203-2027 or the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057. Lena's family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals at Nephrology Hypertension Associates for their many years of compassionate care as well as the Aides from Comfort Keepers.
