Leonard A. Morgese, Sr.'s Obituary
Leonard A. Morgese, Sr., 90, passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital on October 29, 2021. Len was born in Skaneateles, NY to the late Vito and Anna (Palmitessa) Morgese. His family moved to the Bronx in 1932 where Len graduated James Monroe High School in 1949 before moving to Syracuse, NY in the fall of 1954. Shortly after high school, Len served his country as a corporal - machine records operator, 4th and 25th MRU in the Korean Conflict.
Len was a dedicated worker at Carrier Corporation as an application development manager in the CIS Department from 1954-1991. He was a communicant of St. Daniel’s church, a member of the Italian American Athletic Club and part of the John Vendetti POST American Legion. Len enjoyed golfing, reading, rooting for the NY Yankees and the NY Giants football team, but most of all attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his wife, Leah Elizabeth (Betty) Morgese in 2005; siblings, Dolores Ack in 2010 and Vito Morgese in 2017.
Leonard is survived by his children, Vito (Ann) Morgese of East Syracuse, Stephen (Anna) Morgese of Cape Coral, Florida, Leonard (Rosemary) Morgese of Liverpool, Joseph (Karen) Morgese of Baldwinsville, Patrick (Diane) Morgese of North Syracuse; grandchildren, Kevin, Kathleen Frys, Jay, Leonard, Rachael Lesperance, Adam, Michael, Nicholas, Matthew, Leah, and Christopher; great grandchildren: Ivy, Leo and Evelyn; siblings, Joseph (Joan) Morgese and Anthony Morgese, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass in celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at St. Daniel’s Church, 3004 Court St., Syracuse, NY, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
