Lewis G. Fauth's Obituary
Lewis George Fauth, 90, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Known as Lew, he was a beautiful soul who touched everyone with his easy going personality and sense of humor. He was born in Buffalo, NY, to Lavina and Ralph Fauth. In high school he was a star athlete in basketball and baseball; playing guard on the basketball team, he was the city scoring champion. As a star pitcher at 17 he received much interest from the Yankees and Red Sox before being drafted to the Detroit Tigers. His baseball career was interrupted when he was drafted into the US Navy. After the war he returned to play baseball for 6 more years. While playing in Canada he met his beautiful wife Willa, they married in 1953 and spent 64 wonderful years together. He went on to play baseball at the University of Buffalo while he earned his business degree. After graduating he took a job with Shell Oil in Albany and then moved to Rochester to take a position with Penn-Dixie. In 1966 they moved to Dewitt, NY where Lew worked as Vice President for Clark Concrete. Lew loved golf; he was a member at both Nottingham Knolls (1966-1976) and Bellevue C.C (1977-2017) and was honored to play as member in the prestigious League of Iroquois. Lew was a strong family man that loved to share his passion for sports with his loved ones.
He is predeceased by his older brother, Paul Fauth.
Lew is survived by his wife, Willa (Daymond) Fauth; his son, Peter (Anne) Fauth of Fayetteville; two daughters, Karen (Fred) Polmanteer of Penn Yan, and Susan (Thad) Collum of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Jamie, Brett, Streater, Christy, Lindsay, Lewis, Brooke, and Cade; one great-grandchild, Aaron; his younger brother, John Fauth of Orchard Park, NY, and 21 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.
