Lewis E. Palomeque IV's Obituary
Lewis E. Palomeque IV, 71, of Cleveland, NY, peacefully passed away on January 20, 2025 at Crouse Hospital after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Colorado Springs, CO to the late Louis and Elsie (Schmidt) Palomeque, Lewis proudly served his country in the US Navy. He worked 35 years as a welder/welding supervisor at G.A. Braun. A highly accomplished martial artist, Lewis earned the rank of Godan (5th degree) in Judo under the tutelage of Dr. Sachio Ashida, KDK 9th Dan. Lewis was a six-time Empire State Judo coach and an instructor at Cayuga Community Judo. He was an outdoorsman, finding joy in fishing, hunting, golfing, and boating from his home on Oneida Lake.
In addition to his parents, Lewis is predeceased by his sister, Elena Reimann.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pamela (Runfola) Palomeque; his children, Leslie (Pablo) Ortiz and Lewis (Ashley) E. Palomeque V; his grandchildren, Rosalie and Mateo Ortiz; his sister, Denise Gigante; his brother-in-law, Robert (Anne) Reimann; his half-siblings, Louis S. (Joann) Palomeque and Joseph Palomeque; Lucy, his faithful canine companion; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff on 6 North Neuro at Crouse Hospital, Hana Jishi, MD, Gregory Canute, MD and staff, and Anita Pudusseri, MD and staff for their compassionate care of Lewis throughout his illness.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Lewis’ life at 6:00 P.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. He will be laid to rest in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt in the spring.
