Lois A. (Kenney) Perry's Obituary
Lois Ann Perry, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, to be with the Lord on February 15, 2024.
She was born in Steubenville, Ohio, to Joseph W. Kenney and Aletha “Sis” Kliner (Spence). After graduating from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in 1958, Lois taught high school biology in Cleveland and Canton, Ohio, and spent summers working in Lake Placid, NY, where she met, fell in love with and married her beloved, Dominic Perry, after a few dates and a long-distance courtship that blossomed through cherished letter-writing.
With what would become a beautiful, 63-year marriage, Lois started her life with Dominic in Montreal, then moving on to Boston, MA, Rochester, NY, and finally settling down to raise her growing family in Cicero, NY. Raising six children in a home of constant activity, Lois always opened her home to family and friends from across the states, Australia, and England. She continued teaching locally in Cicero-North Syracuse, as a substitute teacher and was active with the Roy Pickard Cicero Free Library for many years, first as a board member, and then Library Director, retiring in 1995. She shared her love for learning with all who came through the library.
Lois loved reading, the challenge of crossword puzzles and the simple beauty of flowers, songbirds, and music. Most of all, she found joy in her life from being a daughter, a wife, a mother, and grandmother, sharing laughter, kindness, and love.
Lois had such strength of character and fought several health issues later in life. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who provided such care and concern that helped her live her best life.
A long-standing member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Dominic, children - David (Sharon), Stephen (Kim), Michael, Allison (Thomas Widowski), Susan Jennejahn (Rick), and Denise Schoeneberger (Jacob), five grandchildren - Madeline Perry, Patrick and Michael Jennejahn, Thea and Marlo Schoeneberger, and many extended family members in Ohio, England, and Australia.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 pm on Monday, February 19, 2024, at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 am, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cicero, with internment following at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Following the internment ceremony, a reception and celebration of Lois’ life will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corp (NAVAC) https://navac.org/help.html or to other local charities of choosing.
