Lorraine “Reenee” D’Agostino, a devoted and joyful teacher whose life touched generations of students, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 82. For the past twenty-five years she made her home in Live Read Obituary
She was my 2nd grade teacher at st Margaret’s back in the early 1970’s. She gave me my first musical solo and the love of music. I never forgot her!
Learning “Greatest Love of All” & The Pledge of Allegiance in sign language, drawing people with round heads and singing “Somewhere Out There”. She is the reason I wanted to be a teacher!
Miss D'Agostino was my third grade teacher in 1979. She was, hands down, the most influential teacher I had ever had! She inspired me to become a teacher myself. I always try to make my classroom a warm, welcoming, and loving place; just as Miss D did. I had the honor of having Lorraine come to my classroom one year as a guest reader. It was a full circle moment as she entered my classroom, met my students, and read to them. She captivated my kids, they hung on every word. I was catapulted back in time when she opened up a lifetime love of learning within me, all those years before. My condolences to her family and friends. I am so grateful that I was blessed with Miss D as my teacher at Lakeshore Elementary school.

Lorraine was a special teacher who inspired her students every day . I enjoyed taking her NYSUT courses and learned so much from her. As a math consultant in 2000-01 I traveled to Lakeshore every Thursday. I made sure I stopped in Lorraine’s classroom . Her laugh always made me smile . Lorraine , you were the teacher that cared about every student in your classroom and made them feel special. Thank you for being one of my special friends .
