Louis F. Adornato's Obituary
Louis F. Adornato, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Friday at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Connecticut and lived in the Syracuse area most of his life. Louis served with the US Army during WWII and was a graduate of Syracuse University under the GI Bill. He was a co-owner of Adornato and Cubito Accounting Firm and retired at age 62 after forty years as an accountant. He was the first Budget Director for the City of Syracuse and also served as City Clerk. Louis was a former owner and operator of the Little Gem Diner and Motel 7. He was a member and former president of the Lincoln Republican Club. Louis was a communicant and very active member of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and was also former President of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Empire State Association of Public Accountants, the National Society of Public Accountants and Municipal Finance Officers Association of the US and Canada. Louis was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed traveling to Florida and Wildwood, NJ with family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann M. (D'Accurzio) Adornato in 2007. Louis is survived by two daughters, Marie (Larry) Koch of Fayetteville and Lou Anne (Bob) Campese of East Syracuse; three grandchildren, Gina Marie Campese & Bobby Campese, both of East Syracuse and Laura Marie Koch of Fayetteville; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Adornato and Rita D'Accurzio; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Louis' family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the staff at the VA Medical Center for their outstanding care and comfort. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter's Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Monday from 4 to 7 pm. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual on Monday, 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in Louis' memory may be made to Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church Building Fund.
