Louis M. "Big Louie" Castrello's Obituary
Louis “Big Louie” Castrello, 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Louis was a lifetime resident of Syracuse and a graduate of Henninger High School. Louis served in the U.S. Marine Corps., was a 4th degree Knight in Council no. 191 in the Knights of Columbus and was a 50 year member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 58.
Louis was an avid NY Yankees and NY Jets fan and watched every game he possibly could. Louis also enjoyed classic cars, with a special affinity for the Corvette. Louis lived his life for his 10 grandchildren and spent every minute he could with them. His distinct laugh was loved by all!
Louis was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Mary, and his brother Michael.
Louis is survived by wife, Linda (Fiacco) Castrello; four children, Anthony (Linda) Castrello, Louis (Melissa) Castrello, Danielle (James) Ferns and Denise (Daniel) Becker; his 10 wonderful grandchildren; his brother, Nicholas (Jeanette) Castrello; his sister, Rosemary (John) Schmidt; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank St. Camillus Nursing Home and their compassionate staff for the loving care they gave to Louis in his final days.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Louis’ life will be held at 9 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Daniel’s Church. Family and friends may call from 4 - 7 pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Daniel’s Church or the American Cancer Society.
