Louis Leonard Ciarla, Sr.'s Obituary
Louis Leonard Ciarla, Sr., 89, of Syracuse, passed away March 17, 2024 at Francis House surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Leonard and Elvira (DePietro) Ciarla.
Louis served with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a Mechanical Engineer and worked for Burns Bros. and Peterson Engineering. Louis was a member of St. Charles/St. Ann’s Church, Solvay Tigers, and Solvay/Geddes Veterans. He enjoyed golfing at Tuscarora Country Club and was a season ticket holder for SU basketball and SU football for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marie (DiCarlo) Ciarla in 2021 and his sister, Concetta Bennie.
Louis is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Kevin) Agostini and Renee DeAngelis (Chris Gantter); his son, Louis (Lori) Ciarla; grandchildren, Craig, Rachel and Paige Agostini; Mark (Brittany) DeAngelis, Matthew (Kayla) DeAngelis and Michael DeAngelis; Nicole (Ian) Bushnell; Louis (Michaela) Ciarla, Patrick Ciarla, and Alexandra Ciarla; great-grandchildren, Rosalie and Giulia DeAngelis, Emmett and Everleigh Bushnell; his brother, Dominick Ciarla; his twin sister, Carolyn Femano, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Louis’ life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2024 at St. Charles/St. Ann’s Church, 501 S. Orchard Rd., Syracuse, NY, followed by entombment with Military Honors at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
