Louis A. "Mike" Walker Jr.'s Obituary
Louis A. "Mike" Walker, Jr., age 81, of Syracuse passed away on Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Oswego, NY, he served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the John Vendetti Post #1. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church and a member of their Holy Name Society. Mike was a Boy Scout Leader and also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the North Side Neighborhood Group, he was known as the "Mayor of North McBride Street." He was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy Grace (Caruso) Walker in 2007; 2 sisters, Delores Cirbus and Lois Hall; 3 brothers, Robert, Frederick and James Walker. Mike is survived by his son, Michael R. (Mary) Walker of Cicero; 4 daughters, Laura A. Walker, Patricia G. (John) Boronczyk, Joanne (Jim) Bleskoski and Angela M. (Kevin) Murphy, all of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer (Roy), Mark, Laura, John, Zachary, Karen, Michael, Liam, Megan, Aidan and Colin; sister, Maryann Penfield of Oswego; brother, Lee Walker, Sr. of Oswego and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 9:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. The Holy Name Society will recite their ritual at 3:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
