Lucy (DeYulio) Del Vecchio's Obituary
Lucy (DeYulio) Del Vecchio, past cancer survivor, 93, of Syracuse, passed away February 18, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, NY on July 23, 1925, and shared a birthday with her late husband Michael. Lucy was a Teacher’s Assistant at Lyncourt Junior High School. She was a lifetime member of Lyncourt Seniors and a member of Lyncourt Fire Ladies Auxiliary for 53 years. She was also a member of St. Daniel’s Wisdom People, Eastwood Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 128 and past member of Lincoln Republican Ladies Club. Lucy was an Inspector with Board of Elections for over 30 years and volunteered for many organizations in the Syracuse area. She was an avid baker of cakes and cookies and loved spending time with her grandson and great-grandsons.
She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Ida (Petrella) DeYulio; her husband of 61 years, Michael J. Del Vecchio, Sr.; sister, Mary Caruso; brother, Frank DeYulio and daughter-in-law, Nancy Del Vecchio.
Lucy is survived by two sons, Michael J. Del Vecchio, Jr. of Lyncourt and John A. Del Vecchio of Lakeland; grandson, Michael A. (Ashley) Del Vecchio; step-granddaughter, Jessica Barnes; two great-grandsons, Anthony and Kyler Del Vecchio; her sister, Jennie Gillette; brother, Anthony (Beverly) DeYulio; sisters-in-law, Annie Del Vecchio and Joan DeYulio; brother-in-law, Peter Caruso; godmother, Rose Tuttle, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, February 25, 2019 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Lucy’s life at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
