Lucy D. Pirro's Obituary
Lucy D. Pirro, 99, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on January 5, 2023. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Pellegrino and Rafaella Pirro. Lucy worked at Camillus Cutlery for over 60 dedicated years. She was a longtime member of St. Brigid & St. Joseph Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the Altar-Rosary Society, Molinese Italian Society, and Senior Citizens Club. Lucy volunteered with St. Brigid & St. Joseph Church food pantry, helped with their funeral luncheons, cleaned the church altar, and washed and pressed all the altar linens. Her hobbies included baking Italian cookies, making cookie trays for family celebrations, knitting, crocheting and traveling the world, visiting new places. Most of all, Lucy loved spending time with family and friends. Aunt Lucy was intelligent, fearless, feisty and had an adventurous spirit. She was a devout Christian woman who will be deeply missed. “We Love You a Bushel and a Peck and a Hug Around the Neck.”
She was predeceased by her parents, Pellegrino and Rafaella Pirro; her baby brother, Rocco Pirro, sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Pirro and Dorothy Pirro; her brother, Mr. Michael Pirro and sister-in-law, Sue Pirro, and their son, David Pirro; brother-in-law, Mr. Donald White and his daughter, Mrs. Karen White Money, and also Mrs. Kathy Money.
Lucy is survived by her two brothers, Mr. Rocco Pirro and Mr. James Pirro; her sister, Mrs. Carmella Pirro White; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 10:15 – 11:15 am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Lucy’s life at 11:30 am. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Assumption Cemetery.
