M. Jeanette (Bowers) Ferraro's Obituary
M. Jeanette (Bowers) Ferraro, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Menorah Park. She was born in Rome, NY, daughter of the late George and Ingrid Bowers.
Jeanette dedicated her life to serving others. She moved to Rochester at age 17 to attend nursing school, graduating in 1951 from Rochester General Hospital. She joined the Rochester City Police Department in 1957 and in 1964 joined the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department where she and her partner were the first female Deputies in Monroe County. Jeanette retired in 1978 and continued working in private duty nursing. She was a communicant of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Chili, NY for many years and volunteered at the Multiple Sclerosis Center in Chili.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ferraro and sister, Helen Hill. Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Joanne (Len) Rauch; two grandchildren, Jack and Danielle Rauch; her brother, George (Charlotte) Bowers, along with several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020 at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 9:45 – 10:45 am at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, 2415 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624, followed by a Funeral Service in celebration of Jeanette’s life at 11:00 am with burial in White Haven Memorial Park, Pittsford, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CNY Alzheimer’s Association, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
