M. Jerald Harrell's Obituary
M. Jerald Harrell, 77, of Central Square passed away on December 11, 2025.
Born on August 14, 1948, in Syracuse, New York. He grew up in many different places, but Central Square became his home.
He was a highly decorated Syracuse Police Officer who was disabled from injuries in the line of duty. Shortly after retirement he went back to college. Jerry graduated from Onondaga Community College in 1991 with The Degree of associate in arts, with Honors. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oswego in 1993 with The Degree of Bachelor of Arts. Jerry completed his Juris Doctor, in two ½ years, rounding out 1996. In July of 1997 he was Admitted and Licensed to practice as an Attorney and Counselor in all the Courts of New York State. Jerry opened his own Law Practice in 1997 concentrating on Children in Crisis.
Jerry will be remembered for always being there to help his family, friends and anyone in need.
He was predeceased by his parents, M. Jackson Harrell and Doris Harrell (Prentice).
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara J. Harrell (DeGroff). A son Christopher Harrell (Sheryl Harrell) and a daughter Stacy L. Martin (Harrell) (Christopher Banuski). His four grandchildren, Noah and Trevor Martin and Alyssa and Landon Harrell. Brother-in-laws Edwin and Charles DeGroff.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, The Kidney Foundation or your favorite charity.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Carhart, Jennifer RN, and Sarah RN. Our days were always much brighter when you were a part of them.
Services will be private at the request of the family.
