Margaret Jean D'Antonio McRae's Obituary
Margie passed away on April 20, 2015 at her home on Little Torch Key, Florida surrounded by her family who will greatly miss her infectious joy of life. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who was everyone’s best cheerleader.
Throughout her 96 years, Margie, affectionately known as Chicky, was always the life of the party, always brought laughter and fun to everything and everyone she touched. She is an ongoing inspiration for all who knew her. She continues to remind us that the important things in life are love, laughter, family and friends.
Margie was born in Pittston, PA but lived and raised her family in Syracuse, NY until the late seventies. After her husband, Alfonse DeAnthony/D’Antonio, passed away she moved to the Florida Keys. She married Miles McRae in the Keys and after his passing, remained in her cute little conch cottage by the bay for the rest of her life.
In her youth Margie was a competitive ballroom dancer always was the first on the dance floor, even in her later years she was a vibrant force that even younger folks had trouble keeping up with.
For many years Margie always returned Home to Syracuse for the summer. Besides spending time with her family and friends, she never missed the NY State Fair – she was a regular at Miller Court, always in the front row, dancing and cheering for the performers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sante and Filomena Pelliccia, her siblings, Armand Pelliccia, Lena Sperry, Nello Pelliccia, Gino Pelliccia, Doris Milbyer, Raymond Pelliccia, Elsie Clark.
Margie is survived by her sisters, Flora Gravante and Elizabeth Sheer both of Syracuse, NY, her children, Robert D’Antonio, Big Pine Key, FL, Carla D’Antonio, Columbus, Ohio and Alfonse Terry DeAnthony, Syracuse, NY, her grandchildren, Scott DeAnthony, Big Pine Key, FL, Jacki DeAnthony, St. Petersburg, FL, Dylan Quinn, Austin, TX, Katie Belfance, Columbus, OH, Carrie Brostek, Canton, C T, David DeAnthony, Clay, NY, Dana Sasin, Fulton, NY and many great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Margie’s life at 11:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Margie will join her husband, Alfonse in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
Margie, Chicky, Mom, Nonnie, many names for a woman with an amazing heart and soul, whose generosity of spirit will live within all of us and continue to guide and inspire our lives. We love you.
