Margaret Rose "Kiki" Edgcomb's Obituary
Margaret Rose “Kiki” Edgcomb, 80, a resident of the Nottingham Retirement Community in Jamesville, passed away on January 14, 2019 after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Ms. Edgcomb was a native of Syracuse. She attended Skidmore College and graduated from Syracuse University. She was employed as a school teacher, and later by the Diocese of Syracuse.
She lived for many years in Mentor, Ohio, and worked to assist those who suffered developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Tarky J. Lombardi, Jr., as well as by her children, Edward Sheeran of Springfield, VA, and Christin (David) Kless of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Edward, Maureen, and Erin Sheeran; Jacob, Matthew, and Aaron Kless; Braedon, Connor, and Noah Gorcyzca. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Hon. and Mrs. Julian and Rose Edgcomb, and by her daughter, Tamara (Kevin) Gorcyzca.
Kiki was best known for her rescue and love of animals, many of whom benefited from her generous and devoted care throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, therefore, contributions would be gratefully accepted by “Operation Git-Meow,” (https://operationgitmeow.com/) an organization that rescues cats from U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Catholic Church in DeWitt on Monday January 21, 2019 at 12:00 pm. A calling hour will take place before Mass from 10:30-11:30 am, also at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., DeWitt, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. Arrangements are being handled by Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home.
