Margaret A. "Peggy" (Smith) Kurak's Obituary
With all the love in the world, it is our family’s deepest regret that Peggy Kurak has passed away at the age of 73 on Friday, June 6, 2025. Peggy was a nurse at James Square Nursing Home for 50+ years, helping more people than could be counted to be rehabilitated, or made comfortable during their stay. Peggy was the center of our family and will truly be missed by everyone who was blessed to meet her, she was a caregiver to the end.
Peggy is predeceased by her parents, James P. and Rosalie Smith.
Peggy leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Robert Kurak; sons, James (Jennifer) and Matthew (Lindsey); grandchildren, JT, Jenna, Jacob and Madeline; sister, Kelly (Vito) Toia and brother, Timmy (Susie); nieces, Staci and Lily, great nieces, Kailana and Kira, her Aunt Cindy, Uncle David and her dog Murphy.
Our family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hartigan of CNY HOA. Never forget that we love you to the moon and back!
A funeral Mass in celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Church, East Syracuse, NY, with entombment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
