Margaret "Greta" Vlasaty's Obituary
Margaret “Greta” Vlasaty, 94, formerly of Syosset, NY and Delray Beach, Fl, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville surrounded by her loving family. Greta was born in Torschau, Yugoslavia to the late Karl and Elisabeth (Scharf) Will. Caring for others was Greta’s life-long achievement; she loved to knit and bake for her family and friends. She also cherished a good game of UNO and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Greta is predeceased by her husband, Carl G. Vlasaty in 2000 and her brother, Johann “Hans” Will in 1945.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Catherine) Vlasaty, Karen (Jay) Lesser, and Irene (Robert) Carton; her grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda), Nicholas, Kristen (Jake), Christopher (Jennifer), Alexander, and Craig; her great-grandchildren, Peter and Madalynn; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service in celebration of Greta’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 27, 2023 in Faith Lutheran Church, 231 Jackson Ave., Syosset. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Greta’s memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at dav.org or St. Joseph’s Indian School at stjo.org
