Maria Catena (Spuches) Calabrese's Obituary
Maria Catena Calabrese, 88, of Syracuse passed away January 21, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Solicchiata, Sicilia, Italy and was a resident of Syracuse for 51 Years. Maria Catena retired from Joseph J. Pietrafesa Co.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carmelo and Maria Carmela Giufre Spuches; her beloved husband of 65 years, Salvatore; sisters, Rosa Spuches, Lucia Gullotto, Rita Romeo and Angela Bellia.
Maria Catena is survived by her children, Connie (Carlo) Pastore, Maria (Gregg) Luzzi and Ozzie (Karen) Calabrese; her grandchildren, Carlo (Jeannette) Pastore, Jr., Dr. Paolo Pastore, and Daniela (Ted) Klamm, Micheal (Sara) Luzzi, and Michelle (Fiancé -Jason) Luzzi, Ashley (Eric) Kieffer and Aimee (John) Dungey; 5 great- grandchildren, Joseph and Allison Pastore, Matthew and Nicholas Klamm and Riley Kieffer; sisters, Nina (Giovanni) Russo of Sicilia, Josephine (Tony) Indelicato, Linda Chisari, and brothers, Salvatore Spuches, Tony (Giovanna) Spuches, all from the Syracuse area and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Crouse Hospital, floor 4N for all their wonderful care and support.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Friday, January 26, 2018 in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:30 am in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
