Maria Domenica (Montalbo) Volza's Obituary
Maria Domenica (Montalbo) Volza, 90, of Jamesville, passed away Friday at The Nottingham after a brief illness. She was born on March 3, 1925 in Casamassima, Italy and resided in the Syracuse area since 1954. Maria was employed by Syracuse China for over 30 years, after working for Learbury Clothing. She was an accomplished tailor, cook and baker who enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Stefano and Anna Montalbo; her husband of 62 years,
Joseph Volza and her brothers, Francesco and Michele.
Maria is survived by her three children, Pasquale (Marguerite) Volza of Santa Fe, NM, Stefano (Patricia) Volza of Syracuse and Michele (PeggyAnn) Volza of New Hartford, NY; six grandchildren, Evelyn Cedrun, Joseph Volza, Maria Vargovich, Andrea Scirocco, Katherine Volza and John Volza; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Isabelle Costantini, along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 am on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Maria’s life at 9:00 am in St. Daniel’s Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse.
