Maria R. Froio's Obituary
Maria R. Froio, 65, of Syracuse, passed away May 7, 2021 at Upstate University Hospital. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Saverio and Teresa (Scerbo) Froio. Maria retired from Niagara Mohawk in 2004 after 20 years of dedicated service. As a spinal cord injury survivor, she was a lifelong advocate of people with disabilities.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by three brothers, Joseph P., Nicholas S. and James F. Froio, and her nephew, Sam F. Froio. Maria is survived by her niece, Felicia Poppe; her nephew, James N. Froio; great-nieces and nephews, Nicholas (Heather) Froio, James J. (Amanda) Froio, Rosario Froio, Annmarie Peebles and Gary Poppe, Jr., along with many great-great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 14, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Maria’s life at 12:30 pm at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr. Syracuse, NY. Entombment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
