Maria "Tina" (Procopio) Garden's Obituary
Maria “Tina” (Procopio) Garden, 98, of Syracuse, passed away June 1, 2017 at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation. She was born in Syracuse on February 11, 1919 to the late Joseph and Antonina (Sofia) Procopio. Maria was formerly employed by General Electric, The Addis Company and Flah’s Department Store. She was also a member of the GE Engineers Wives Club, the Corinthian Club and the Daughters of Columbus.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Garden in 1982; her sister, Josephine Cotroneo; and brother, Gregory R. Procopio.
Maria is survived by three daughters, Anne Marie (James) DiStefano of Fayetteville, Patricia (William) Salomone of Venice, FL, and Nancy Nemeti, of Syracuse; one son, Dr. James Garden of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Dr. James DiStefano, Jr., Dr. Joseph DiStefano, William (Maria B) Salomone, Maria S. Salomone, Charles Salomone, Laura (Charles) Wilbur, Michael Nemeti, Nicholas Nemeti, Joseph Garden, and Zachary Garden; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In accordance with Maria’s wishes, funeral services were private.
Maria requested that memorial donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
